Indiana was ranked the best place to do business in the Midwest and fifth overall in Chief Executive‘s 2013 Best & Worst States for Business State Rankings. Among the top qualifications were taxations and regulations, workforce quality, and living environment. Some key companies that were highlighted were Eli Lilly and Company, Wellpoint, Steel Dynamics and Cummins. CEO comments included “Indiana is showing the way,” and “Indiana is getting more competitive every year and it is boosting the competitiveness of the surrounding states (except for Illinois).”
